A Hilditch & Key shirt is designed to last and serve its wearer for many years to come. All our shirts are constructed from the finest fabrics which we source from the world's leading cotton mills. When you purchase one of our shirts, you are investing in a garment that will become a main wardrobe staple to cherish and enjoy each and every occasion it is worn.

It's all in the details...

The Finest Fabrics

We select only the very best fabrics from which to make our shirts. Our classic cotton poplin shirts are two-fold 120 quality, with higher grade fabrics also available. Our shirts come in a range of weaves, including poplin, oxford, twill and herringbone.

Pattern Matching

All our shirts are pattern matched across the yoke and shoulder, meaning continuity between the fabric pieces when sewn together. This is a feature which many other shirtmakers either do not offer or only make available on bespoke shirts.

Mother of Pearl Buttons

All our shirts feature ethically sourced mother of pearl buttons. You will not find any cheap plastic buttons on a Hilditch & Key shirt, which chip or fall off with minimal wears.

Raised Placket

All our shirts feature a classic raised placket which provides a more defined and structured look to the shirt front, enhancing its formal appearance by creating a visible, elevated seam along the button line. This also helps reinforce the buttonholes, making them less prone to tearing, especially near the waist area.

Classic Cuffs

Our button cuffs are rounded for a softer, understated finish with two mother of pearl buttons. Our double cuffs feature a square finish, to be folded and fastened with cufflinks or silk knots.

Sleeve Alteration

We offer sleeve length adjustment across all of our shirts, allowing for shortening of up to five inches if required. This service is available to customers both instore and through our online store.

Our Fits

The Classic Fit

The original Hilditch & Key cut. Designed to provide a more relaxed and roomy feel compared to the more tailored contemporary fit.

It is designed to offer comfort and increased ease of movement with a slightly looser fit through the body and sleeves, making it suitable for individuals who prefer a less fitted look.

Our Fits

The Contemporary Fit

Not to be confused with a slim fit, this is our own closer fitting design, more modern and streamlined than our alternative Classic fit.

The Contemporary Fit is designed to provide a trimmer and more tailored silhouette compared to alternative slim fit options. It aims to offer a sleeker appearance without being overly tight.

Our Range

Whether you are looking for a dress shirt for a black tie event, formal white shirt for the office or a casual button down for the weekend, we have you covered.

Caring for your Shirt

Washing

Approach shirt-washing with a delicate touch to ensure longevity. Machine washing is definitely better than dry-cleaning because the chemicals are bad for the cotton. Washing at a low temperature protects the fine fabric that the very best shirts are made from, and also helps it to retain colour for longer. We recommend washing at 40 degrees or even 30 degrees.

Drying

After washing, we advise not to use a tumble dryer, instead, we recommend leaving the shirts to dry naturally. This is because having your shirts bang around inside a hot container increases the likelihood of shrinkage.

Ironing

Ironing puts your shirts under a lot of stress and so should be approached carefully. Please take your shirts out to dry and press them while they’re still damp. This makes them easier to iron than when they’re bone dry, and ensures a smooth finish. We also recommend ironing collars and cuffs away from the edge to avoid unsightly ridges, and pulling the front placket tight to get a nice clean finish.

The Finishing Touches

Need a sophisticated pair of cufflinks or want to upgrade your collar stays, we have you covered with those important finishing touches.
